Multifocal
Mulitple range focus, distance, near, and some intermediate. Similar to your natural lens. It allows you to spend most of your day without glasses for distance and near viewing.
Astigmatic
Eliminates blurring at distance. Decreased dependency on glasses for distance. You will still need glasses for most near tasks like computer work, eating, and reading.
Monofocal
Single focus, old-style lens implant.
Distance correction only. Patients choosing this lens implant will likely need glasses for distance. intermediate, and near tasks for the majority of the day. Astigmatism treatment, if indicated, can reduce the need for glasses for distance only. A mono-vision technique can be used if you have used mono-vision contact lenses before and are accustomed to mono-vision.
